Anyone managing WordPress sites for clients or themselves knows that the price that matters is not the first-year rate, but the renewal rate. We checked the official pricing lists of three managed WordPress hosting providers — two Italian and one international — on 17 October 2026, to see what you actually pay for storage, traffic, backups and, most importantly, how much the fee goes up after the first year.
Serverplan: four plans, price disclosed only for the first purchase
On the official price list, WordPress hosting starts at €26 + VAT per year. The base plan, Starterkit, includes 5 GB of NVMe SSD space, 5 email accounts, automatic daily backups and cPanel, but does not come with WordPress pre-installed. The other three plans cost €76, €142 and €230 + VAT per year respectively. All Serverplan WordPress hosting plans include backup of the website, database and email accounts: a point in their favour, but for Startup, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus the public price list does not specify disk space, number of included visits or the presence of staging — so we have not listed them here.
Shellrent: the renewal is visible, and significant
Here, the first-year/renewal comparison is explicit on the price list. The Standard plan costs €39.99 + VAT in the first year, but from the second year onwards the service renews at €83.99: more than double. It includes unlimited space, unlimited traffic, 30 email accounts at 1 GB each, 3 MySQL databases and weekly backup. Business starts at €79.99 + VAT and from the second year onwards the service renews at €149.99, with unlimited 1 GB email accounts and 10 databases. Enterprise at €169.99 in the first year, from the second year onwards the service renews at €239.99, with daily, weekly and monthly backups and antivirus included.
Kinsta: same tier, different currency
Kinsta's entry-level plan, according to the official price list checked on kinsta.com, costs $35 per month with monthly billing or $30 per month billed annually ($350 per year), with one WordPress installation, 10 GB of storage, 20 GB of server bandwidth per month (or up to 35,000 estimated visits in the "Launch" variant), 125 GB of CDN bandwidth and 14 days of backup retention. The price is in US dollars, not euros: this should be borne in mind when comparing with Italian price lists, which are excluding VAT in euros.
