When choosing shared hosting for WordPress, you almost always face the same problem: the "from" price displayed on the homepage is almost never what you pay from the second year onwards. We checked the official price lists of three Italian providers on 12 October 2026 and read the figures as published, excluding VAT as shown by the providers themselves.
Three bestselling plans compared
| Provider / plan | Storage space | Database | Backup | Year 1 price (+VAT) | Renewal price (+VAT) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Serverplan Startup WordPress | 20 GB SSD NVMe | 20 MySQL | 50 accounts | Daily automatic | €76/year | €76/year (same renewal price) |
| Shellrent Hosting WordPress Business | Unlimited | 10 MySQL | Unlimited from 1 GB | Weekly | €79.99/year | €149.99/year |
| Register.it Hosting WordPress Business | 40 GB SSD NVMe | 1x1 GB MySQL 8 | 10x2 GB | Hourly, 1-click restore | €67.56/year (€5.63/month) | €135.12/year (€11.26/month) |
Data taken from "From €26+vat/year" on the official Serverplan page, from Shellrent's WordPress Hosting page and from Register.it's WordPress Hosting page.
What each plan includes, line by line
Serverplan offers all WordPress plans on fixed annual billing: the set price does not change at renewal, unlike the other two providers. The Startup plan, their bestseller according to the website itself, includes 20 GB of SSD NVMe storage, 50 email accounts, daily automatic backup, cPanel, free migration via tool, WordPress pre-installed, SSH/WP-CLI/GIT access. The basic Starterkit plan, at €26 plus VAT per year, does not have WordPress pre-installed and offers only 5 GB of space and 5 email accounts.
Shellrent works with two-tier pricing: promotional in the first year, standard rates from the second year onwards. The Business plan, their bestseller, costs €79.99 in the first year and renews at €149.99 from the second year onwards, and includes unlimited email at 1 GB, 10 MySQL databases, Let's Encrypt SSL, MultiPHP, 3 FTP accounts, weekly backup, up to 5 subdomains and WordPress Toolbox.
Register.it shows prices on a monthly basis but with limited-time promotion: the Business plan costs €5.63 per month plus VAT instead of €11.26, with 40 GB of SSD storage, 1 GB MySQL 8 database, unlimited traffic and 10x2GB email accounts. All Register.it plans include SSL certificate, WordPress pre-installed, email accounts, SSD storage, automatic backups and one domain included for the first year.
The limits of this comparison
We wanted to include Aruba, Keliweb and an international provider such as SiteGround. The official WordPress plan pages for Aruba and Keliweb were unreachable at the time of verification: we don't invent figures, so they remain out of this table. If the price list changes or we obtain direct confirmation, we will publish an update with a complete comparison across six providers.
For those choosing today, there is only one practical rule: calculate the cost in the second year, not the first, before activating any plan.
