Anybody running VPS or dedicated servers on Hetzner and OVHcloud has watched the price lists shift more than once in 2026. These are not rumours—they are tables published by both providers, showing old and new prices side by side. For those reselling capacity to end customers in Italy, the question isn't whether prices have risen—they have, and sharply on some tiers—but by how much, and on which specific plans.
Hetzner: two rounds in three months
Hetzner adjusted cloud pricing twice in 2026. The first adjustment, announced on 23 February and effective from 1 April, increased cloud server prices by roughly a third and applied to both existing servers and new orders. The CPX22 moved from €5.99 to €7.99 per month.
The second round, on 15 June 2026, hit the dedicated vCPU lines particularly hard. According to the official table published on docs.hetzner.com, the CPX22 moves from €7.99 to €19.49 per month, the CCX13 from €15.99 to €42.99, the CCX63 from €374.49 to €853.49 (Germany/Finland pricing, VAT excluded, checked 19 October 2026 on docs.hetzner.com/general/infrastructure-and-availability/price-adjustment/).
Adding both rounds on the same tier, the CPX22 has risen from €5.99 to €19.49, a combined increase of around 225%. The cheaper shared-resource lines fared better: the CX23 moves from €3.99 to €5.49, the CAX11 from €4.49 to €5.99, increases in the range of 33–38%.
Hetzner attributes the rise to hardware costs, citing increased infrastructure and hardware expenses, with DRAM and NAND flash prices climbing sharply through 2026 due to AI data centre demand.
OVHcloud: VPS revised in October, dedicated from September
On the Italian public price list (ovhcloud.com/it/vps/, checked 19 October 2026), the 2027 VPS range starts at €3.81 + VAT per month for the VPS-1 (2 vCore, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD NVMe) and goes up to €19.96 + VAT per month for the VPS-4 (8 vCore, 24 GB RAM, 200 GB SSD NVMe). OVHcloud has published a price revision for VPS, Public Cloud, Private Cloud and Bare Metal: it chose not to pass the entire increase in component costs to customers, with declared average increases between 9 and 11% for distributed cloud between 2026 and 2028.
Dedicated servers saw steeper rises starting in September 2026: for 2026 Gen servers, average increases reach 51%; for the 2026 Game Gen range, 87%; while 2024 Gen machines see more modest increases averaging around 28%. Entry-level ranges were untouched: for dedicated servers, the entry-level Kimsufi, So You Start and Rise ranges remain unchanged.
OVHcloud also cites memory as the cause: according to analysis from the official blog, DDR4 and DDR5 prices rose 158% and 307% respectively from September 2025, with internal projections pointing to further increases.
What's missing from this piece
The price lists of major Italian resellers (Serverplan, Shellrent, Aruba, Register, Keliweb) could not be verified at source in this work session: product pages either failed to load or verification timeouts expired. We therefore do not report second-hand figures not directly checked against the published price list. Anyone comparing a plan resold in Italy with the German or French wholesale price should bear in mind that the figures above are VAT excluded and refer to official international websites, not local reseller panels.
